Artist Statement
Art has always been a comforting aspect of life for me. As a form of self expression, art allows the artist to create whatever comes to mind. For me, that has always been things that made me happy. While art can be a very real subject sometimes, my main goal in art has always been to create something that feels like an enhancement on life, whether it be bringing awareness to something that can normally be scary to discuss with others, or whether its a basic, bright and colorful thing that I felt needed to be created in order to make the world seem like bleak. With art, comes beauty. With technology often comes innovation. Art and technology belong together. Without the two intertwined, we don’t see a brilliant side to either. The best part about art is when it is created using modern tech, and technology is the greatest when art plays a defining role in it. Graphic design was made significantly better with the coming of age personal computers. I chose to be an artist & designer because I love technology and aspire to use it to improve my form of self expression. I consider myself to be an artist, yet outside of that, many areas of digital media art fascinate me. Something that I have always aimed to do as a designer has been to create positive messaging about a topic, even if the topic could be considered dark in nature. Bringing awareness to anything important but in a positive light is something I enjoy doing, because while a specific topic can be difficult to think about, it is important to me to bring awareness to the constructive aspects of it, such as how endangered animals are important to the environment and why we should protect them, or why art is an important tool for children to have in society, whether they end up being artists or not. As a digital media artist, I hope to bring a similar mindset into my art. Even though I’m constantly debating what medium to work with next, I hope to provoke entertainment and enjoyment in the viewers or users of the art I create.
